The Academy Reverses Decision to Present Awards During Commercial Breaks

After considerable protest, The Academy is reversing its decision to present several awards during commercial breaks at 2019 Oscars.

The organization had previously planned to give out some trophies during commercial breaks in order to keep the broadcast time to three hours.

Following pressure from its members, the organization released a statement explaining their plans to broadcast all awards during the live telecast.

The statement read that The Academy “has heard the feedback from its membership regarding the Oscar presentation of four awards – Cinematography, Film Editing, Live Action Short, and Makeup and Hairstyling. All Academy Awards will be presented without edits, in our traditional format. We look forward to Oscar Sunday, February 24.”

The Oscars are set to air on February 24th on ABC.
