Andy Cohen Fires Back at Critics After Dog Destroys Son's Toy

Andy Cohen is calling out parent shamers.

Less than two weeks after welcoming son Benjamin via surrogate, the 50-year-old Watch What Happens Live host had to respond to critics after sharing a video of his dog Wacha ripping apart his son’s stuffed Torah – a gift from a rabbi.

“Okay, flooded with DMs from people saying I’ve got a big problem on my hands, Wacha’s jealous of my son,” Andy said in another video posted on his Instagram Story.

“Wacha didn’t know the Torah toy—we’re talking about a Torah toy—belonged to the baby,” Andy continued. “He just had his eye on this purple f–king toy and he wanted to rip it apart. It’s not that deep. Stand down. Everything’s fine in the West Village.”

Andy – now talking to Wacha – added: “Hey, I’ve been a dad for 12 days. People are judgy as f–k. We gotta be careful, OK?”

As a retired canine behaviorist, I can honestly say you have to do a bunch of things in preparation for a baby. One, you have to be in control of you dog, particularly around distractions; two, bring baby smells back home before introducing him; three, your dog needs to have the correct toys – fabric is not a good toy for your pet.

My dogs rip the stuffing out of all stuffed things, no matter who they belong to, or where they come from. They especially like stuffed things you actively try to keep away from them. Dogs like to chew…. The rattles, pacifiers, bottle nipples, and all the babies other toys will also be in the line of fire. The good thing is, the child will learn to put his things away really fast!

And then there is the thing where dogs should never be allowed to be alone with babies or small children which he was not, so unless the dog is trying to rip the stuffing out of the baby, no worries.
