Lena Waithe Recalls Her First Writer's Room: 'I Didn't Shine'

Lena Waithe takes the cover of Nylon magazine‘s March 2019 cover in honor of Women’s History Month.

Here is what the 34-year-old writer, producer and actress had to share with the mag:

On moving to LA: “I really did have to come out here and pound the pavement and figure it out… I didn’t have any connections, can’t make any calls, but I was just like, I’m going to give it everything I have.”

On her first time in a writer’s room: “My first time being in the room, I wasn’t really strong in the room. I didn’t shine.”

On leaving a legacy: “I just don’t want to make things that are forgettable. I want to make things that make you feel something and, as long as it makes you feel something, that’s all I care about.”
