Jordan Peele Says 'Us' Is The 'Monster' Movie He Wished He Had Growing Up!

Jordan Peele stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday (March 18) and dished all about the difference between writing his Oscar-winning debut, Get Out, and his next anticipated horror, Us.

“First of all I knew I could get it made, that was a big difference. When writing Get Out, I was like ‘they’re gonna shut me down any second,’” the 40-year-old writer-director expressed to Jimmy. “With this one I knew I could get it made and I had the love of fans. I had a lot of love behind my back.”

“I knew I could just make a movie that I wanted to see. My favorite movie that doesn’t exist and that’s what I did,” Jordan continued. “There’s a ton of pressure. I’m so privileged to be in this position where I can make a movie with a black family in the center of a horror film, which is the type of movie I always wished I had growing up. To have something in my favorite genre. It’s unlike Get Out, this one is not about race. It’s about a lot of things, it’s about duality… it’s a monster movie. I return to this idea of make what I want to see. Make something I wish somebody would make for me.”

Jordan also talked about contributing to Spike Lee‘s first Oscar win decades after first meeting him during an embarrassing college Q&A session.
