Dax Shepard Almost Didn't Take His Role on 'Parenthood'

Dax Shepard almost turned down his role on Parenthood!

The 44-year-old actor recently explained that when he was offered the part, he was dating his now-wife Kristen Bell and didn’t want distance to hurt the relationship.

“I got offered Parenthood — I hadn’t acted in a long time, no one was offering me anything and they said, ‘This show shoots in Philadelphia’ and I said, ‘There’s no way I can be in this relationship and move to Philadelphia,’” Dax explained on his podcast.

He added that he turned the show down, despite how he “very much wanted to be on that show” and found the idea of a “weird, separate life in Philadelphia” to be “very appealing.”

“I turned that show down — which, by the way, is certainly the first time in my life that I had ever done that…I couldn’t believe I was doing it,” Dax said.

Thankfully, Parenthood changed their shooting location to LA and he was able to accept the role.

“What’s so ironic is you make a decision like that, and then weirdly, you’re rewarded,” Dax concluded.
