Taraji P. Henson Reacts to Jussie Smollett's Charges Being Dropped

Taraji P. Henson is reacting to the news that her Empire co-star Jussie Smollett had all charges against him dropped amid allegations that he staged a hate crime.

“I’m happy that the truth has finally been set free, because I knew it all along. We’re all happy for him, and thank God the truth prevailed,” Taraji told USA Today.

Taraji added that she always believed him “because I know him and I know his track record. I’m not going to jump on clickbait just because someone says something derogatory about a person I know and love. I’m not easily swayed like that. Those little clickbait (reports) weren’t enough to deter me from his immaculate track record. I know the type of activism this young man does in his community, I know that he’s a giver – he’s not an attention-seeker.”

“When I know someone, there’s nothing you can say to make me flip on them, and that’s what we miss in this world. We need people that stand by us. Whatever happened to that? Why are we so easy to believe strangers over people we know?” Taraji added.

The prosecutor in Jussie‘s case just made the shocking statement that he still believes he is guilty of the crime.

Truth? Clearly a negotiation occurred hence the verbiage of the various parties.

Someone high up got paid and Jussie was magically free. So disgusted by celebs. I hope the ratings for Empire lead to a cancellation. I’m mad he set up a hate crime and got away with it .

This case is giving no me a headache…
Correct me if I’m wrong, but he was never exonerated or proven not guilty right? Or did they drop the charges because there wasn’t enough evidence??? Or he was found guilty but they thought his bail and community service was enough of a sentence?

  • plez

I don’t think Taraji is a stupid woman so I have to believe she is just down right lying when it comes to Jussie. People around him better watch out because if Jussie is crazy enough to plan and go though the beat down, he will do anything to get ahead.

  • Lisa

They apparently dropped the charges because it wasn’t a violent crime and Jussie would have likely only been sentenced to community service so, according to the prosecutor, it would have been a waste of resources to charge him of anything. But no one ever proved that he was innocent or not guilty, hence, the prosecutor still claiming that he thinks that he is guilty. So it’s clear that someone high up was paid or a deal was arranged.

  • MyName

A deal was made. If not then he wouldn’t have had to forfeit his bail nor would they had made a point to mention community service.
The prosecutors like to resolve cases without going to court and the accused wanted a way out without admitting guilt.
As poster Lisa had stated, he likely would have only received community service and a fine anyway.

I stopped watching years ago only the 1st season was dope

Henson is a big-mouthed idiot. It was not the “truth.” The prosecutors even admitted that they thought he was guilty. Foxx is the one who worked the deal because all she cares about is her political future. Pathetic group of people.

  • KS_in_TP

She doesn’t get it. He wasn’t exonerated. PERIOD.

    What truth retard?

The only reason to nullify a grand jury who came back with 16 felony counts indictments is because new evidence came to light and the hack who dropped the charges said no new evidence came to light, they still believe he’s guilty and that they had overwhelming evidence to prove it.

So the only reason to drop the case was special treatment making some people above the law… Not only drop all charges, expunged his record, sealed the court case which is unheard of when it not a minor…. This so in your face corruption Chicago style, so democrat machine Chi- town politics all over it.

Now his lawyer blaming the two brothers of doing it on their own.scapegoats

  • smmy33

There no way he would gotten community service, the grand jury of peers threw the book at him.. On top he would been convicted criminal.

That would explain not getting a deal in which he admits guilt or expunging his record or sealing the court documents.

    These people are liars.

The prosectors is crooked and the Chicago police have for a year reported her to the Feds because she a danger to the city and not doing her job. She gives low bail to violent offenders so they out on the streets committing more crime.
