Get to Know Broadway's Noah Weisberg, Who Is Bringing Willy Wonka to Life Across America (Exclusive)

The Broadway musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is currently touring around the country and Noah Weisberg is the actor bringing the role of Willy Wonka to life!

Noah is a Broadway veteran and was seen in such shows as Legally Blonde, South Pacific, and Elf.

We caught up with Noah during the tour’s current stop at the Pantages Theatre to learn some interesting things about him that fans likely don’t know. Here are 10 Fun Facts!

  • 1. My middle name is Landon. Why? My Mom liked the actor Michael Landon. She wasn’t obsessed or anything. No Michael Landon posters on the wall or anything (that I know of). But I’m happy. I think it’s a cool name, thanks Mom & Michael.
  • 2. I played Grandpa Joe in Charlie And The Chocolate Factory when I was 12. I was going through puberty and could barely hit the notes for “I’ve Got a Golden Ticket.” It was a challenging time!
  • 3. Seeing a production of A Chorus Line was a defining moment for me as a kid. I remember thinking…I have to do this! (I’ve never been in a production of A Chorus Line, so I think “I have to do this” meant theatre in general.)
  • 4. The first musical I did was Babes In Toyland. I was probably 9 or 10. I had one line: “And she really needs her big sister.” I was so committed to that line. Like, in my heart, I totally felt that she really needed her big sister. I still believe it.
  • 5. A few years ago, my brother, a lawyer, took some improv classes at Second City, just for fun. He called me one day after class and told me that he played “Zip Zap Zop.” I still have trouble sleeping at night…

  • 6. Almost all of my clothes are from J Crew. Exciting? Interesting? Not sure. But it’s a fact.
  • 7. I’ve lost about 20 pounds playing Willy Wonka. Moral of the story…If you want abs… play Willy Wonka.
  • 8. When I was a little kid, I came home from nursery school crying. I told my Mom that I didn’t remember saving all the animals from a flood. Moral of this story…Those kids I went to nursery school were jerks. UPDATE: It may have been a repressed memory, because now I totally remember doing that. I love animals. Always have. So, ya know, joke’s on them! And who cares anyway. I mean what ever happened to all those kids I went to school with? (Actually, a lot of them are very successful and have gone on to lead wonderful lives. But have they ever saved all the animals, 2 by 2, from a flood? I think not!)
  • 9. I eat one apple every day backstage during the 2nd Act of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory.
  • 10. I’ve never seen Mamma Mia. Ok? There! I’ve said it.

Go see Noah in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, now at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre!
