What Happened to Jussie Smollett's 'Empire' Character in His Possible Final Appearance on the Show?

Jussie Smollett may have made his final appearance on Empire on Wednesday night (April 24).

While producers are still debating whether he will return to the show amid his legal troubles in Chicago, his co-stars banded together to pen a letter voicing their support for his return.

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!

Jussie‘s Empire character, Jamal, will not appear in the final two episodes of Season 5.

In his last appearance on the season, in the episode “Never Doubt I Love,” Jamal wed his journalist boyfriend Kai (Toby Onwumere), and his father Lucious (Terrence Howard) apologized for his homophobic past.
