Michelle Rodriguez Joins 'Fast & Furious 9' Cast, Gets Female Screenwriter Added to Team

Michelle Rodriguez has confirmed that she is joining the cast of the upcoming Fast & Furious 9!

The 40-year-old actress has previously said that she would leave the franchise unless producers showed “some love to the women of the franchise on the next one.”

“I felt like there was not enough of a female voice in the franchise,” Michelle said in a panel with Bloomberg this week. “You should evolve with the times, not just pander to certain demographics that are stuck [in the past].”

“I’ve been the franchise for 16 years and I can count on both hands how many times [Jordana Brewster and I] actually have had a conversation on screen. And I thought that was pathetic,” Michelle said. “And I said if I’m coming back, I really want there to be a female writer to give it a female voice. And finally they showed me some love and said yeah.”

We love that Michelle was able to bring change to the franchise and can’t wait for the upcoming film. It will hit theaters on May 22, 2020.
