Denise Nickerson Dead - Violet in 'Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory' Dies at 62

Denise Nickerson has sadly died.

The actress, best known as Violet Beauregarde in the 1971 version of Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, died on Wednesday night (July 10) after being taken off of life support at the age of 62, her family confirmed on Facebook.

“She’s gone,” they wrote.

Denise sadly suffered a severe stroke in June of 2018.

“They just took off all the equipment. None of it was helping, but making her only more uncomfortable. We’re telling her it’s okay to let go,” her son wrote before confirming her death. She was also reportedly suffering seizures after being admitted to the hospital and entering a “coma-like” state.

Denise played Violet in the popular film, who notoriously turned into a giant blueberry. She also appeared on The Electric Company and Dark Shadows, as well as Search for Tomorrow. She then retired from acting and became a nurse.

Our thoughts are with Denise‘s loved ones at this difficult time.
