Facebook Will Reportedly Be Fined $5 Billion By The FTC

Facebook is facing a major fine from the FTC!

The social networking company will reportedly be fined $5 billion over privacy violations, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The investigation into Facebook’s privacy missteps began following the Cambridge Analytica debacle last year that exposed over 50 million people’s data to a Trump-affiliated data mining firm trying to influence the election.

Facebook violations have also included collection of call and text logs from phones running Google’s Android system in 2015 and exempting big tech companies from usual privacy rules.

The $5 billion fine would be the largest the FTC has levied on a tech company, according to THR.

Facebook and the FTC have yet to comment on the settlement.
