Scarlett Johansson Says She Should 'Be Allowed to Play Any Person'

Scarlett Johansson is addressing her job as an actress.

During an interview with As If magazine, the 34-year-old actress spoke out against politically correct casting.

“You know, as an actor I should be allowed to play any person, or any tree, or any animal because that is my job and the requirements of my job,” Scarlett shared. “I feel like it’s a trend in my business and it needs to happen for various social reasons, yet there are times it does get uncomfortable when it affects the art because I feel art should be free of restrictions.”

‘s statement comes after she dropped out of the film Rub and Tug after she faced backlash for taking on a role as a transgender man.

This isn’t the first time Scarlett Johansson faced backlash over one of her role. Scarlett was criticized for taking on the lead role in Ghost in The Shell, when many believed it should have gone to an Asian actor.
