Man Who Allegedly Stole Frances McDormand's Oscar Gets Charges Dropped for This Reason

The man who was arrested after being accused of trying to steal Frances McDormand‘s Oscar statue at the Governors Ball in 2018 is walking away with no charges.

Terry Bryant, 47, was the man accused but all charges have been dropped and he actually has Frances to reportedly thank.

Apparently, Frances was “not willing to cooperate with investigators,” according to TMZ, because she was so embarrassed that her statue was stolen. She had only left her statue to be engraved, and suddenly it was gone.

The thief was actually caught on camera stealing the Oscar!

“The District Attorney’s Office today told the court that we are unable to proceed at this time. The defense moved to dismiss the case, and Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Sam Ohta dismissed it,” the D.A. said in a statement.

Frances won the Best Actress Oscar in 2018 for her work in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
