Taylor Swift's 'Cruel Summer' Lyrics Seem to Be About This Ex

Fans think that Taylor Swift is singing about her relationship with Tom Hiddleston in her new song “Cruel Summer” on the album Lover.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re likely well aware that Taylor and Tom dated during the summer of 2016 after meeting at the Met Gala, where she also reportedly met current boyfriend Joe Alwyn.

In “Cruel Summer,” Taylor seems to be singing about thinking about Joe in the months after they met until they finally started dating. During this time, the summer of 2016, she was with Tom.

The song seems to follow Taylor wanting her relationship with Tom to work out, but she realizes it won’t work as she has feelings for someone else.

“I cried like a baby coming home from the bar, said I’m fine, but it wasn’t true. I don’t wanna keep secrets just to keep you,” Taylor sings on the track.
