Jamie Lynn Spears Tells the Long Story Behind This Outfit!

Jamie Lynn Spears is opening up about the story behind the outfit that she wore to the red carpet premiere of Spy Kids 2 back in 2002.

The 28-year-old singer and actress, who was only 11 at the time and had just appeared in older sister Britney Spears‘ movie Crossroads months earlier, decided to be her own stylist for the event.

“Let me tell you a story… about young JL the stylist,” Jamie Lynn started off the series of stories on Instagram. “Young JL was invited to one of the Spy Kids movie premieres, and YJL never turned down a red carpet… kids being the two leads in a movie about kids having an adult job really got YJL thinking about ways she could be more in charge… then it hits her… I’m going to design and style myself for this carpet. It will show that I’m really in charge of my image and the future of my brand.”

“Let’s start with the jeans… I cut the top off. Reattached the top to the slits, that I also cut, on the bottom of the jeans. I cut all the holes and tears. Added some patches of other fabric [plus fabric sticker iron ons and fabric I cut and added on],” she wrote.

“Got some boy shorts with colored waist band to add something where the waist band I cut off should be… pink cowboy boots… casual tank, folded up just to show off my midriff,” Jamie Lynn continued. “Mom was a bit concerned about giving me total control, but ultimately let me have the freedom to express myself with my God given STYLE.”

Jamie Lynn then talked about how she was bullied by another kid at the premiere, who is also famous.

“I was really feeling myself in line for the bumper cars at the after party, and a boy walked up to me (who y’all would know, but I won’t mention). I’m thinking he is surely blown away by my incredible style… he says… ‘Wow, really really cool boots.’ Then turns to his friends and they all LAUGHED at me. Child’s play. I look good, and you know it,” she said.

“Nameless boy, keep ya comments to yourself or my country ass will stick the very expensive cowboy boots up your ass. Bye. Thanks for playin’, but I can’t be bothered. NEXT,” Jamie Lynn concluded. “And this was just the start of the many events I styled myself for… straight FIRE every time. THE END.”
