Prince Harry Praises Former Rugby Star Gareth Thomas for Coming Out as HIV+

Prince Harry is sending his support to Gareth Thomas.

If you didn’t know, the 45-year-old former rugby player recently revealed his HIV status in an effort to break the stigma surrounding the diagnosis, and because he was being threatened with being “outed” before he could tell the public himself.

The 35-year-old royal praised Gareth for his bravery in a post on Sunday (September 15).

“Gareth, you are an absolute legend! In sharing your story of being HIV+, you are saving lives and shattering stigma, by showing you can be strong and resilient while living with HIV. We should all be disgusted by the way you were forced to speak your truth, it is yours and yours alone to share on your terms and I and millions stand with you,” Harry wrote on the Instagram post.
