'Saved By the Bell' Revival in the Works with Mario Lopez & Elizabeth Berkley Set to Star!

NBCUniversal’s new streaming service, Peacock, is reviving Saved By the Bell!

So far, Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley are signed on for the series to originate their roles as A.C. Slater and Jessie Spano. THR reports that they will play parents! The publication also notes that the producers are in talks with other original Saved By the Bell cast members, including Mark-Paul Gosselaar, to also return.

The show would center around California Governor Zack Morris (Gosselaar), who “gets into hot water for closing too many low-income high schools…he proposes they send the affected students to the highest-performing schools in the state — including Bayside High. The influx of new students gives the over-privileged Bayside kids a much-needed and hilarious dose of reality.”

Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, Lark Voorhies, and Dustin Diamond also starred in the series, which ran from 1989 to 1993.

Deadline is reporting that in addition to the Saved By the Bell sequel, a Punky Brewster reboot has also been ordered by NBC’s streaming service!
