Oprah Winfrey Reveals 'Very Serious' Health Scare on 'Ellen'

Oprah makes an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, airing Monday (September 23), and opens up about her recent scare with pneumonia, which landed her in the emergency room.

“Pneumonia is nothing to play with, y’all,’” the famed TV personality tells Ellen. “It is very serious.”

“I came back from overseas and I thought I had a cold, but it wasn’t a cold,” Oprah recalls. “I ended up in the emergency room and they said, ‘You have pneumonia.’”

Oprah goes on to explain that she was on antibiotics for a week but they weren’t working, so she went to see a lung specialist: “I said, ‘I’ve got a little rattling,” she says. “He puts a stethoscope here (on my chest), and I see the ‘oh, (expletive)’ face. It’s like, oh, my, something’s wrong with you. I could see it, he didn’t hide it. He immediately said, ‘You must cancel everything.’ I’ve never canceled anything in my life. I work when I’m sick.”
