Serena Williams Addresses When She'll Retire During Advertising Week New York
Serena Williams is opening up about her historic career.
The 37-year-old tennis player was in attendance at Advertising Week New York to speak with Verizon CEO Guru Gowrappan and CNBC correspondent Julia Boorstin in a panel on Tuesday (September 24) in New York City.
Topics included her retirement from tennis, her role as Chairwoman of Verizon’s Board of Advisors, her clothing company and venture firm, and even strollers.
When discussing retirement, she said she would “transfer out, you know, in 20 years, not anytime soon,” which was met with laughter and a round of applause.
She also talked about investing, explaining that she was “really interested in technology and even more so, founders…we really focus on female founders” including “Daily Harvest… Lola is another one that we love. Colugo.”
She also said her S by Serena Williams clothing brand is about “changing the way you feel when you put on our outfit, you want to feel sexy, you want to feel confident, and you want to feel sure.”
