Joaquin Phoenix Thought Rooney Mara Despised Him on 'Her' Set

Joaquin Phoenix is opening up about his relationship with Rooney Mara and how he didn’t think she liked him when they first met.

The 44-year-old Joker is on the cover of Vanity Fair‘s new issue and he talks about meeting Rooney on the set of their movie Her.

“He believed Mara despised him during the making of Her but later learned she was just shy and actually liked him too,” the mag wrote.

Joaquin said, “She’s the only girl I ever looked up on the internet. We were just friends, email friends. I’d never done that. Never looked up a girl online.”

Rooney and Joaquin also worked together on the movie Mary Magdalene. They got engaged earlier this year.
