Bernie Sanders Undergoes Emergency Heart Procedure, Cancels Future Campaign Events

Senator Bernie Sanders has been hospitalized after experiencing chest pain. A blockage was found in one of his arteries, and he underwent a procedure to have two stents inserted.

“During a campaign event yesterday evening, Sen. Sanders experienced some chest discomfort. Following medical evaluation and testing he was found to have a blockage in one artery and two stents were successfully inserted,” his senior adviser Jeff Weaver said in a statement (via ABC).

“Sen. Sanders is conversing and in good spirits. He will be resting up over the next few days. We are canceling his events and appearances until further notice, and we will continue to provide appropriate updates,” the statement added.

Senator Sanders, 78, is attempting to be the Democratic candidate running for President against Donald Trump in 2020.
