Chadwick Boseman Reveals He Auditioned for 'Guardians' Drax Role Before Landing 'Black Panther'!

Chadwick Boseman has revealed that he auditioned for the role of Drax from Guardians of the Galaxy before he became Black Panther!

During a guest appearance last night (November 19) on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the 41-year-old actor talked about the experience, which put him on the radar for Marvel and allowed him to enter the MCU as Prince T’Challa in 2016′s Captain America: Civil War.

“I didn’t think I was gonna get it,” Chadwick said of the audition. “And it’s weird, too. It’s a testament to Marvel because… Ant-Man has a different tone and feel, and we didn’t know what that was gonna be. We didn’t know what Guardians was gonna be.”

“So, I didn’t know what it was,” he added, referring to the audition for the role, which ended up going to Dave Bautista. “I only had a few pages [of the script] at that time. So, it was just good to come in and play to see what they did with it. I feel like that was one of the moments where they were like, ‘I think we can use him for later.’”

Chadwick Boseman also talked about why the original title of his movie 21 Bridges was almost inaccurate, and took part in the Freestylin’ with The Roots segment where they improv songs about him on the spot.

FYI: Chadwick is wearing J Brand leather pants.
