'Black Christmas' Opening Weekend Box Office Numbers Revealed

The opening weekend box office numbers for Black Christmas are in, and unfortunately, the movie was not a big hit.

The remake of the cult horror film debuted at fifth place at the box office, pulling in just $4.4 million in its opening few days, according to Deadline.

The film was also critically disliked: it currently commands a D+ Cinemascore, and a 43% Rotten Tomatoes rating.

In the film, Hawthorne College is quieting down for the holidays, but as Riley Stone (Imogen Poots) and her Mu Kappa Epsilon sisters—athlete Marty (Lily Donoghue), rebel Kris (Aleyse Shannon and foodie Jesse (Brittany O’Grady)—prepare to deck the halls with a series of seasonal parties, a black-masked stalker begins killing sorority women one by one.

The audience was primarily made up of men over 25 (32%) and women over 25 (29%), followed by women under 25 at 25%, and 15% men under 25.
