Disney Will Drop Fox Name, Will Rebrand the Two Studios

The Walt Disney Company acquired Fox in a huge $71.3 billion purchase last year and now the company will be removing the “Fox” name from the studios it bought.
20th Century Fox will now be known as 20th Century Studios and Fox Searchlight will become Searchlight Pictures, according to Variety.
Disney also acquired 20th Century Fox Television and Fox 21 Television Studios, but name changes for those companies have not yet been finalized.
Will Ferrell and Julia Louis-Dreyfus‘ comedy film Downhill will be the first movie released under the new Searchlight Pictures name while the upcoming Harrison Ford movie Call of the Wild will be one of the first to be released under 20th Century Studios.
The Fox broadcast network and Fox News were not part of the acquisition.
