Kobe Bryant Started Using Helicopters Frequently to Spend More Time with His Family

Kobe Bryant spoke out years ago about starting to use helicopters frequently, and it was so he could spend more time with his daughters.

If you missed the tragic news, Kobe and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna were among the victims in a helicopter crash that occurred on Sunday (January 26). Our thoughts are with all nine victims in this horrific accident.

In this resurfaced interview, Kobe spoke of his time driving around the Los Angeles area while playing with the Lakers.

“Traffic started getting really, really bad. And I was sitting in traffic and I wound up missing like a school play, because I was sitting in traffic. … I had to figure out a way where I could still train and focus on the craft but still not compromise family time,” Kobe told Alex Rodriguez on the Barstool Sports podcast The Corp with A-Rod and Big Cat.

“So that’s when I looked into helicopters, to be able to get down and back in 15 minutes and that’s when it started,” he continued.

Kobe continued, “You have like road trips and times where you don’t see your kids. … So every chance I get to see them, to spend time with them, even if it’s 20 minutes in the car.”

If you missed it, Kobe‘s former helicopter pilot is speaking out about what may have contributed to helicopter crash that killed everyone on board.

Kobe and Gianna are survived by wife and mom Vanessa, 37, and daughters/sisters Natalia, 17, Bianka, 3, and Capri, 7 months.
