'Love Is Blind' Creator Reacts to Finale, Reveals Which Weddings Surprised Him

SPOILER ALERT – This post contains spoilers for the Netflix series Love Is Blind, so beware of reading further if you’re not finished watching!

Chris Coelen, the creator of the new hit series Love Is Blind, is speaking out with his thoughts on what happened during the season finale of the dating show.

The series followed couples who met in pods and didn’t get to see what each other looked like until after they got engaged. The rest of the series followed the engaged couples as they went on a week-long vacation and then spent several weeks living together ahead of their weddings. At the weddings, we found out if love is really blind when the contestants said either “I do” or “I do not” during their weddings.

“They certainly could choose to do whatever they wanted to do,” Chris told E! News about the wedding days. “Again, being there on the wedding day, I personally, knowing these people and their stories, I didn’t know what was going to happen.”

During the first wedding, Damian Powers broke up with his fiancee Giannina Gibelli, which was a surprise as it seemed he was head over heels in love with her.

“With Damian and Gigi, it was like ‘What?!’ Literally, no idea. People are just gasping in the control room. Like, anything could happen with any of them,” he said.

Chris says that they weren’t sure if Matt Barnett would even show up for the wedding, but he did get married to Amber Pike.

“It was crazy, the fact that Barnett… he’s texting Amber on his wedding day and I was like, ‘What is going on?!’ We’re hoping, hoping, hoping somebody is going to go through with it,” he said.

Fans were shocked that Kelly Chase decided to say “I do not” to her fiance Kenny Barnes.

Chris said, “Kenny and Kelly were a big surprise to everybody.”

“I love that it’s sad, I love that it’s stakes because when you then have a success story like Cam and Lauren, it’s real. It’s real and they are in love and that love is going to bond them for the rest of their lives,” he added. “It’s incredible to be a part of that. It’s super high stakes, it’s the highest stakes in a relationship standout you can have, so you heighten the stakes to that level, you are going to have this amazing rush of success but you’re also going to have the crash of it not working out and people being devastated. It’s all real.”
