Coronavirus Makes NBA Suspend Rest of The Season

The NBA is halting all games for the current season because of the fear of coronavirus.

Via THR, the league announced the news tonight (March 11), just shortly after a Utah Jazz player tested positive for the virus.

The NBA is suspending game play following the conclusion of tonight’s schedule of games until further notice,” the announcement reads. “The NBA will use this hiatus to determining next steps for moving forward in regard to the coronavirus pandemic.”

The Golden State Warriors were expected to play without fans tonight, however, events at Chase Center through March 21 were postponed.

“We’ll continue to monitor this evolving situation closely to determine best steps. We appreciate the understanding and patience of our fans, guests and partners,” the team shared.

NCAA president Mark Emmert also announced that the championship events, including the Division I men’s and women’s basketball tournaments, will take place with only essential staff and limited family in attendance.
