Joe Biden Commits to a Woman to Be His Vice President, Bernie Sanders Says He 'Likely' Would Too

Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders are addressing their potential vice presidential running mates.

The 77-year-old former Vice President and the 78-year-old Vermont Senator went head-to-head once again during the latest Democratic Debate on Sunday night (March 15) at the CNN Studios in Washington, D.C.

During the debate, Biden committed to choosing a woman to be his Vice President if he won the Democratic candidate nomination.

“There are a number of women qualified to be president tomorrow,” Biden said. “I would pick a woman to be my vice president.

Bernie also said that “in all likelihood” he too would choose a woman to be his vice president.

“For me, it’s not just nominating a woman. It is making sure that we have a progressive woman and there are progressive women out there,” Bernie said. “So my very strong tendency is more in that direction.”

Potential women in the running include former Georgia House of Representatives Member Stacey Abrams, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, California Senator Kamala Harris, New Hampshire Junior Senator Jeanne Shaheen, and New Hampshire Junior Senator Maggie Hassan.
