Netflix Extension Lets Viewers Have Watch Parties With Friends While Self-Quarantining

Just because we’re all social distancing doesn’t mean we can’t virtually binge-watch Netflix together.

If you didn’t know, there’s a browser extension allows users to interact with friends while using the streaming service and self-quarantining amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The extension has been around for years, but it’s currently surging in popularity due to the pandemic, and it recently received an update that added seven extra servers, Business Insider reports.

The Google Chrome extension, called “Netflix Party,” lets multiple viewers watch Netflix simultaneously. One person picks a program to stream, and they can then send a link to friends (who must also have the extension) to “invite” them to watch at the same time.

Additionally, the extension lets users type messages to each another while watching.
