Savannah Guthrie To Film 'Today' From Her Basement Due To A 'Super Mild' Sore Throat

Savannah Guthrie will be reporting from home when you turn on Today this week.
The 48-year-old anchor and attorney will be staying home after coming down with a mild sore throat, and THR reports that NBC News president Noah Oppenheim also released an email to staff telling them to follow her lead if they also presented with any kind of symptoms.
“Well, this will be a first,” Savannah shared on social media. “I’m going to be anchoring Today from my house! In an abundance of caution, and to model the super vigilance the CDC has asked of all of us, I’m staying home because I have a mild sore throat and runny nose.”
She continued, “This was the advice of NBC’s superb medical team and my bosses. I feel good and am sure I will be back in no time — but during these days, it’s on all of us to be extra cautious and caring of those around us. #loveyourneighbor So see you tomorrow on TODAY – from my basement!”
Earlier in the week, Savannah‘s co-workers, Al Roker and Craig Melvin, were also social distancing themselves after one staff member tested positive for coronavirus.
