The 'Big Brother' Cast in Germany Still Doesn't Know About the Coronavirus Pandemic

The Germany edition of Big Brother is currently in the middle of a season and the cast has no clue about what’s happening in the world right now amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The 14 contestants entered the house on February 6 and at that time, the coronavirus outbreak was still mostly contained in China. Now, there are over 180,000 cases in the world, including over 7,000 in Germany with around 17 deaths.

The show released a statement defending the decision not to inform the contestants and they said, “Of course, the residents will be informed if there is reason to do so.”

After the network got backlash for that decision, it was announced that a live show will happen on Tuesday (March 17) to inform the cast about the outbreak. Just so you know, the contestants have all been tested and they are all negative.

“Sat.1 has decided to inform the Big Brother residents about the events in Germany and the world in an additional live show,” the network said in a statement (via USA Today). “This decision was made in consultation with the relatives.”

The same situation is reportedly happening right now with Big Brother Canada.
