Joe Diffie Dead - Country Star Dies Due to Coronavirus at 61

Joe Diffie has sadly died.

The country star passed away at the age of 61 due to complications related to coronavirus, a spokesperson confirmed to Variety on Sunday (March 29).

“Grammy-winning country music legend Joe Diffie passed away today, Sunday, March 29, from complications of coronavirus (COVID-19). His family respects their privacy at this time,” the statement read.

He confirmed the diagnosis on Friday (March 27).

“I am under the care of medical professionals and currently receiving treatment. My family and I are asking for privacy at this time. We want to remind the public and all my fans to be vigilant, cautious and careful during this pandemic,” he said at the time.

Joe Diffie was a member of the Grand Ole Opry for 25 years, and is best known for more than 20 Top 10 country hits, including “Home,” “If the Devil Danced (In Empty Pockets),” “Third Rock From the Sun,” “Pickup Man” and “Bigger Than the Beatles.”
