Dwayne Johnson Reveals the Role He Lost to Tom Cruise

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is opening up about a role that he really wanted, but didn’t get.

The 47-year-old actor opened up during a Q&A session on Instagram and he revealed that he wanted the role of Jack Reacher, which went to Tom Cruise.

“Great question regarding my career in film 🎞 Was there a movie role I really wanted, but lost to another actor? Yup. The role was Jack Reacher. The actor was Tom Cruise,” Dwayne captioned a video on Instagram.

In the video, Dwayne explained how all of his roles in Hollywood have been created for him, except that one, which is a reason why he really wanted it.

“Business is business and I’m happy he got it. Universe works in funny ways though, as when that door shut on me, another door opened with the opportunity to create a character from scratch that was of my DNA,” he continued in the caption. “The one and only bad ass, shit talkin’, gravity and reality defying, always winkin’ and having fun OUTLAW LAWMAN KNOWN AS LUKE HOBBS. Let the good times roll 🤠🥃.”

Because Dwayne didn’t get cast in Jack Reacher, he was eventually cast as Luke Hobbs in Fast Five!
