Lysol Maker Warns Against Injecting Disinfectant Into the Body

A spokesperson for Reckitt Benckiser, the company that makes Lysol, is speaking out in response to the comments made by Donald Trump during his Thursday press conference.

The president suggested that people might be able to get an injection of disinfectant in order to treat coronavirus.

“As a global leader in health and hygiene products, we must be clear that under no circumstance should our disinfectant products be administered into the human body (through injection, ingestion or any other route),” the company said in a statement to NBC News.

“As with all products, our disinfectant and hygiene products should only be used as intended and in line with usage guidelines. Please read the label and safety information,” the statement added.

The Environmental Protection Agency also wants to make sure that people do not ingest disinfectant. The agency said, “Never apply the product to yourself or others. Do not ingest disinfectant products.”
