Now, a source is speaking out about the 33-year-old Very Cavallari star and the 36-year-old former NFL quarterback, and what might have went wrong.

A source is saying that the pair “brought up the idea of divorce several times in the past years before” and they “ultimately decided they truly both aren’t happy.”

“They have tried to work it out for years,” the source added to E! News. “The kids definitely kept them together at times.”

They have been “amicable,” “seeing each other and co-parenting the kids together,” and “trying to make it as normal as possible for the kids.”

“They have really tried to make it work for years, but are on different pages about lifestyles and were arguing a lot,” the source continued about why the split happened.

Many fans were wondering about Kristin and Jay‘s recent trip to the Bahamas. Well, turns out, they spent time separately while on the tropical island.

“Kristin was with the kids and [her BFF, hairstylist] Justin Anderson a lot hanging out,” the source said. “Of course Jay was around, but they had a lot of space and it was easy for them to be normal in front of the kids.”
