Helicopter Company Responds to Kobe & Gianna Bryant Death Lawsuit, Says They Knew Risks Involved

Island Express, the company that owned the helicopter that crashed carrying Kobe Bryant, his then 13-year-old daughter Gianna, and 7 other passengers, killing them all, has released a statement about the crash via court papers.

Kobe‘s wife and Gianna‘s mom Vanessa Bryant filed a lawsuit against the company and the pilot, citing “negligence by the pilot and the aircraft’s operating company” as the reason for the crash, as the conditions were not ideal to fly that day.

The company just responded to Vanessa‘a papers, and they are saying (via TMZ), “Kobe Bryant and GB [Gigi] had actual knowledge of all of the circumstances, particular dangers, and an appreciation of the risks involved and the magnitude thereof, and proceeded to encounter a known risk, and voluntarily assumed the risk of the accident, injury … thereby barring or reducing [Vanessa's] claim for damages.”

The company also called the crash an “act of God” and it was the result “of an unavoidable accident.” The pilot was reportedly going 180 mph when the helicopter crashed.

The company also added that flying is “inherently dangerous.” They did not explain how a 13-year-old minor would be able to assess the risk.

A representative of the pilot of the helicopter that crashed also responded to the lawsuit and you have to see that statement.
