'Batwoman' Will Introduce Entirely New Character Following Ruby Rose's Exit as Kate Kane

Goodbye Kate Kane, hello Ryan Wilder!

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that The CW is officially saying goodbye to Ruby Rose‘s character altogether, instead of replacing the actress with another on Batwoman.

Via a casting notice posted on Reddit, the series is casting for Ryan Wilder, a female in her mid-late 20s and the complete opposite of Kate.

The description of the character reads “She’s likable, messy, a little goofy, and untamed. With no one in her life to keep her on track, Ryan spent years as a drug-runner, dodging the GCPD and masking her pain with bad habits. Today, reformed and sober, Ryan lives in van with her plant. A girl who would steal milk from an alley cat and could also kill you with her bare hands, Ryan is the most dangerous type of fighter: highly skilled and wildly disciplined. An out lesbian. Athletic. Raw. Passionate. Fallible. And very much not your stereotypical All-American hero.”

The notice is also encouraging any and all LGBTQ+ actors to go out for the role.

Ruby‘s shocking exit from the series was announced last month, with the actress officially addressing her leaving in an Instagram post later on.
