George Floyd Funeral Services to Take Place Across 3 Different States

George Floyd, the unarmed man who was murdered by police while in custody in Minneapolis inspiring global protests against police brutality and systemic racism, is being honored across the country in a series of memorial services.
The first service will take place in Minneapolis on Thursday (June 4) at North Central University from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with a eulogy from Reverend Al Sharpton, his family attorney confirmed to CNN.
Two days later, a service will then be held in North Carolina, where he was born, at the Cape Fear Conference B Headquarters with a public viewing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a private family service at 3 p.m., according to the Hoke County Sheriff.
“As the Sheriff of Hoke County, I’m asking on behalf of the Floyd family for those who plan on attending the viewing to be respectful to the sensitivity of the family’s time of grief,” he said. Guests will be required to wear masks amid the pandemic, and protesting will not be allowed.
A third memorial service will occur in Houston, Texas — which is where he grew up — on Monday (June 8), with a public visit from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Fountain of Praise with a speech from Reverend Dr. Remus E. Wright, according to the Fort Bend Memorial Planning Center. Joe Biden will attend this service.
