Prince's Estate Honors His 62nd Birthday With a Powerful & Timely Handwritten Message
Prince‘s estate is honoring what would have been the music icon’s 62nd birthday on Sunday (June 7).
In a handwritten note posted on social media from the late superstar, who sadly died in 2016, Prince spoke out about racial intolerance – a timely message amid protests globally against systemic racism and police brutality in the wake of George Floyd‘s murder.
“Nothing more ugly in the whole wide world than INTOLERANCE (between) Black, white, red, yellow, boy or girl. INTOLERANCE,” the note reads.
“Prince dedicated his life to speaking out against injustice, advocating for black excellence, and spreading the message of ‘Love 4 One Another.’ In this note that he kept in his personal archives, he wrote a message that still resonates today.”
They also shared his 2015 video for “Baltimore.”
“‘The system is broken. It’s going to take the young people to fix it this time. We need new ideas, new life.’ Prince wrote “Baltimore” in 2015 following the death of Freddie Gray at the hands of police, in support of Black Lives Matter,” they wrote.
