Reddit Brings In First Black Board Member Michael Seibel To Replace Alexis Ohanian

Alexis Ohanian‘s wishes to be placed on the Reddit Board by a black person has been fulfilled.

Reddit announced today (June 10) that Michael Seibel has taken over the vacated seat.

Michael is a partner at the startup accelerator Y Combinator, and also serves as CEO of the YC startup accelerator program, which actually helped to launch Reddit over 15 years ago.

“I want to thank Steve [Huffman], Alexis, and the entire Reddit board for this opportunity. I’ve known Steve and Alexis since 2007 and have been a Reddit user ever since,” Michael said in a statement about the appointment.

He added, “Over this period of time I’ve watched Reddit become part of the core fabric of the internet and I’m excited to help provide advice and guidance as Reddit continues to grow and tackle the challenges of bringing community and belonging to a broader audience.”
