Kobe Bryant to Be Honored with Posthumous Emmy Governors Award

The Television Academy is honoring the late Kobe Bryant.

The basketball icon will be the recipient of the 2020 Los Angeles Area Emmy Governors Award, recognizing his legacy of philanthropy, community building and inspiration that extended beyond the basketball court.

“The award is presented to an individual, company or organization that has made an outstanding, innovative and visionary achievement in the arts, sciences or management of television as well as a substantial contribution to the greater Los Angeles area,” according to the TV Academy’s website.

Kobe was nominated for the posthumous honor by Spectrum SportsNet.

Kobe will be honored during the 2020 Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards on Saturday (June 18), which will beginning streaming at 7pm ET at Emmys.com.
