Karl Glusman's 'Love' Movie Climbs Netflix Charts: Here's What He Said About the Explicit Sex Scenes
The 2015 movie Love, directed by controversial filmmaker Gaspard Noe, is climbing the charts on Netflix this week and fans are discovering Karl Glusman‘s breakout performance.
The 32-year-old actor, who is married to Zoe Kravitz, goes full frontal throughout the movie and has unsimulated sex scenes with his co-stars.
If you didn’t know, the movie was released in 3D and it had its world premiere at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. At the screening, many people walked out of the theater as they were disgusted by the ejaculation scene, which was all too real in 3D.
In a 2015 interview with Variety, Karl was asked if he knew how explicit the sex scenes would be when he signed up for the film.
“Well, as far as close-ups in the movie, Gaspar likes surprises. And so the first day of shooting, he said, ‘It’s time for your big close up!’ He lowered the camera to my waist level and got the focus right. And he said, ‘All right, take your pants off!’ The scene [with the ejaculation] was on the first day of shooting. That was my ice breaker,” Karl said.
When asked if he thought about quitting he said, “I went to the bathroom to garner some courage. I looked in the mirror. It felt like the scene in Boogie Nights, where he’s pumping himself up. I was like, ‘What are you doing?! This is not you. You can’t do this. You should run away.’ I definitely had a moment when my heart sped up, and I thought, ‘This is a huge f—ing mistake.’”
