Margot Robbie to Star in New Female-Fronted 'Pirates of the Caribbean' Movie

Margot Robbie is joining the Pirates of the Caribbean universe!

The two-time Oscar-nominated actress is attached to star in an upcoming female-fronted movie in the popular Disney franchise.

THR reports that the movie is not intended to be a spinoff of Johnny Depp‘s Jack Sparrow movies, but instead will be focused on a “wholly original story with new characters under the Pirates moniker.”

Christina Hodson, who wrote Margot‘s movie Birds of Prey, is writing the screenplay for the upcoming movie.

In addition to this Pirates movie, Disney is also reportedly working on a reboot of the franchise. Both of the upcoming movies are set to be produced by longtime Pirates producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
