Hairspray's Nikki Blonsky Reveals She Texted John Travolta Before Coming Out as Gay

Nikki Blonsky is reflecting on her decision to come out as gay.

The 31-year-old Hairspray actress spoke out in an interview with THR on Tuesday (June 30) following her announcement.

During the conversation, Nikki revealed that she already heard from co-star John Travolta.

“I have. I did not want the person who played my mother to have to find out about this from anybody else. I felt the need to tell him myself so I texted him and we had a lovely conversation. I love him with all my heart. I couldn’t have been more honored to have played his daughter. He is one of the finest human beings you’re ever going to meet,” she explained.
