Colin Kaepernick Teams Up With Disney For ESPN Documentary Series

Colin Kaepernick is linking up with Disney for a brand new docuseries.

The project will chronicle his journey from San Francisco 49ers quarterback to activist, according to a release, and will feature new interviews as well as never-seen-before archival footage following the football star in the most recent years of his life.

“I am excited for this partnership with Disney across all of its platforms to elevate Black and Brown directors, creators, storytellers & producers,” Colin shared in a tweet about the project. “I look forward to sharing culturally impactful and inspiring projects.”

Colin will also serve as an executive producer on the ESPN show.

The announcement follows the news that Ava DuVernay is also making a limited series based on Colin‘s life as a teen.

That six-episode series will go to Netflix and will focus on his “formative high school years, lending meaningful insight into the acts and experiences” that led to his efforts to fight police brutality and systemic racism.
