Grant Imahara Dead - 'Mythbusters' Host Dies Suddenly at 49

Grant Imahara, the host of the science show Mythbusters, has sadly passed away.

The 49-year-old TV host reportedly died suddenly at the age of 49, according to THR.

“We are heartbroken to hear this sad news about Grant. He was an important part of our Discovery family and a really wonderful man. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family,” a representative for Discovery said in a statement.

Grant joined the cast of Mythbusters in season three in 2005 and he remained with the show until 2014. He and some of his co-hosts from the show reunited for Netflix’s White Rabbit Project in 2016.

Before his days as a television star, Grant worked as a visual effects artist and model maker at Lucasfilm’s THX and Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) divisions. Some of the films he worked on include the Star Wars prequels, both The Matrix sequels, Jurassic Park, and A.I. Artificial Intelligence.

Grant‘s MythBusters and White Rabbit Project co-host Kari Byron paid tribute to him on Monday night (July 13) by tweeting a photo with him and saying, “Somedays I wish I had a time machine.”

We’re sending our thoughts and condolences to Grant‘s loved ones during this difficult time.

Just six months into the year, we’ve already lost so many amazing stars and we’re remembering them all.
