A security guard who worked at the Los Angeles building where Johnny and Amber were living also testified.
On the night of Amber‘s 30th birthday, she reportedly threw Johnny‘s phone off their balcony and then begged staff at the building to help trace it.
“When I entered the residence, Amber explained to me that she had thrown Johnny’s cell phone — and the wallet containing it — off the balcony the night before,” the building’s security guard, Starling Jenkins, said in a witness statement (via Page Six). “The ‘Find My iPhone’ application indicated that Johnny’s phone was somewhere on the streets below the balcony of the residence.”
Starling said that he “asked several homeless people if they had” the phone after he couldn’t find it during the initial search. He said, “One homeless man admitted to me that he had the phone.”
“He returned the phone to me in exchange for the following: (1) US$425; (2) three chicken tacos; (3) two bags of chips; (4) two apples; and (5) four bottles of water,” Starling said.
During the trial, Johnny‘s assistant revealed the moment that he asked Amber for a divorce.
