Marvel Delays Premiere of 'Falcon & The Winter Soldier' On Disney+

Disney has announced that the planned premiere The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which was set to happen in August, won’t be happening after all.

The series, starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan in their Marvel roles, has been delayed after the Disney+ list of new shows for August was released this week.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was one of the first television shows to be shut down over concerns of the coronavirus. They were about a week into filming in Prague when the shutdown happened.

A week or so later, Marvel shut down most of its other projects as well.

Anthony spoke to Variety in a recent interview about the shutdown.

“We were in Europe, and everything got crazy in Europe first,” he said. “So they shut us down two weeks before the U.S. shutdown. It was really amazing just because I feel like we’re the first Marvel show or movie that had budget constraints. And that was always my [experience], ‘It’s Marvel, we could shoot forever.’”

He added, “They’re like, ‘Nah.’ So it was a very different experience from the rest of the movies. But at the same time, it was a lot of fun.”

Stay tuned for an expected new premiere date.
