Cynthia Erivo To Lead 'Talent Show' Movie From Universal

Cynthia Erivo has booked a brand new role for Universal Studios’ Talent Show.

The 33-year-old Oscar-nominated actress will star in the musical drama to be directed by Gandja Monteiro.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project is based on an idea by Duane Adler, the Save the Last Dance scribe who originated the Step Up franchise.

Talent, a working title, is the story of a failed songwriter (Erivo) who returns home to Chicago to lead a group of at risk youth in their annual talent show.

Lena Waithe wrote the latest version of the script, and will executive produce alongside State Street’s Jay Marcus.

Stay tuned for all the updates about the film!
