The 61-year-old country star died on Sunday (March 29). He was the first major country star to disclose his diagnosis days before.

“Grammy-winning country music legend Joe Diffie passed away today, Sunday, March 29, from complications of coronavirus (COVID-19). His family respects their privacy at this time,” a spokesperson confirmed.

Joe Diffie was a member of the Grand Ole Opry for 25 years, and is best known for more than 20 Top 10 country hits.
